Captain A - New Year's Tide

Here's the the first of what I hear is gonna be monthly instalments from the multi-talented Captain A (aka Eoghan and various collaborators). In his own words: "Captain A is topical electro-psychedelic folk music carved out of the expansive boglands and beaches of donegal, on the north-left coast of Ireland."

As well as Captain A, he also runs the Angel Electric studios in Letterkenny(where Zafaranchos did our recordings) and plays bass in Aurel and the Evangelists. A busy man. You can download the albums for free from the myspace.

Lyrics:

ice cream and dew and the fresh air and views
the pastel palisades and the buckets and the spades
the footsteps on the crumbling peer and tiny storns of sand
and the postcard sent without a word

no one lives in these coastal towns
but the ghosts of you and me
who've come to wet their feet
to walk out in the new years tide
the violent northern brew
to cleanse them of their silent summer blues

Chords:

verse: F

chorus: Bb / C / F / Dm / Bb / C / F

There's also a bunch of collaborations between us two in the works, but more about that some other time.

Lights

I'm determined to be a bit less sporadic with the posts so here's a random 13 second exposure of a country road at night.

Beach Bleakness in Donegal

Here's a few pictures I took when we went for a walk on the beach in the last few days of 2008. This area (Fanad) is one of my favourite places in the world. In either winter or summer it's amazingly beautiful. We even get some quality surf on this beach, although you mightn't think it from these pictures. Cheers.
